Who We Are
KYFilmCrew.org was founded by Sven Granlund, a professional makeup and special effects artist with over 43 years of experience on Hollywood productions. After decades working in Los Angeles — on features, network television, and major studio productions — Sven relocated to Lexington, Kentucky, where he co-founded Kentucky Creature FX with his wife Yazmin Granlund and business partner Claude D. Miles.
Sven is, himself, proof of the exact point this site makes: local does not mean inexperienced. Kentucky is home to a growing community of seasoned professionals — many of whom have relocated here from Los Angeles as work in that market has slowed. This is not a developing market pretending to be something it isn’t. This is a real, professional crew base that deserves real representation.
The film commissions do important work, but their focus is often regional. KYFilmCrew.org is statewide, independent, and built by someone who has worked at the highest levels of the industry and knows exactly what a production needs to see before they commit.

Pro applications are reviewed individually, and a one-time $10 processing fee applies upon approval — not before.
